Triage was the assessment, the sorting and the grouping of the sufferer who will get the medical handling of the evacuation in the condition for the mass incident or the disaster.

In the disaster incident usually many casualties, whereas the official and help equipment were very limited so as to have to carry out the sorting to determine the priority.

One of the methods triage in the disaster was START the abbreviation from Simple Triage And Rapid Treatment.

The START method really was easy to be carried out although by the layman even. This indeed because triage necessarily was done by anyone that the first time to the incident location. Results of the process triage was the grouping pederita appropriate heavy light him the problem in this sufferer.

The START procedure:

1. The step 0 : Call casualties who still could be walking to approach to the side of the official that was safe location (collecting the area). Casualties who could walk approached was given the GREEN label.
2. The Step 1 (Airway + Breathing) : breathing check, If not breathing opened the respiratory tract, if continuing to not breathe gave the label of BLACK; breathing more than 30 times/the minute or more or less than breathing 10-30 times per minutet the refinery following.
3. The step 2 (Circulation) : Capilary test check (pressed the sufferer’s Fingernail) afterwards free, if again was red more than 2 seconds (more than 2 seconds) gave the label of RED. Triage must be always evaluated to avoid the possibility of happening the time mistake triage. Or could also the change happened when the condition for the sufferer improved or worsened.
